ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POST BASIC PROGRAMME • A candidate shall apply to the person in charge of the nursing college for admission to a course. • Grade 12, senior certificate or equivalent qualification. • Proof of current registration with South African Nursing council (SANC) as a General nurse and Midwife. • The current registration shall be maintained for the full duration of the course. • Proof of professional indemnity. • Approved study leave from the employer. • Candidates must have current exposure for a period of one (1) year in a unit for the program applied for. Within the year of exposure four (4) months should be a an accredited facility; EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMMES • Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment Treatment and care the exposure to be current exposure at a clinic/health care centre for a period of two (2) years. • Diploma in Opthalmological Nursing Science current exposure for a period of six (6) months at a clinic, under the supervision of trained ophthalmic health care provider.
